
Two New School Records For UNO Track

AMES, Iowa, - Amanda Vorthmann set her second school record in as many days, and Sami Spenner added another to her resume at the Iowa State Classic on Saturday afternoon.
Vorthmann broke her own school record in the 3,000 meters, running a time of 9:47.90 which is more than two seconds faster than the time she ran almost one year ago at the Nebraska Tune-Up. Just yesterday, she set the school record in the mile.
Spenner broke her own record in the long jump, posting a leap of 20-05 1/4 to win the event. Her mark was almost three inches farther than her jump at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational on Jan. 18.
Spenner also won the triple jump with a personal best mark of 41-10 1/2, almost nine inches better than her previous best at Iowa State's Cyclone Holiday Preview on Dec. 8.
Kathie-Lee Laidley had her own personal best in the long jump with a distance of 19-02.
In other action from the track, Maja Mihalinec picked up a pair of third-place finishes. She ran a time of 7.61 in the 60 meter dash and ran 24.52 in the 200 meter dash.
The Mavericks are back in action next Friday, Feb. 15 at the Nebraska Tune-Up in Lincoln.
