Mavs Hang On in Poll Heading into Playoffs

USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll
OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha hockey team will head to Minnesota State for the first round of the WCHA Playoffs ranked 20th in the latest poll from the website USCHO.com.
The Mavericks dropped four spots in the poll following a pair of losses at Minnesota Duluth last weekend to end the regular season. UNO is the seventh seed in the playoffs for the second consecutive year after posting a regular season record of 18-16-2 overall and 14-12-2 in the WCHA.
UNO is also receiving votes in the poll from USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine, but it are not ranked in that poll's top 15.
Quinnipiac of ECAC hockey is first in both polls for the fifth straight week followed by Minnesota and Miami. North Dakota and Boston College round out the top five in both polls. Other WCHA teams ranked in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll include St. Cloud State (8), Denver (10), Minnesota State (11) and Wisconsin (15).
St. Cloud State also is ranked eighth in the USCHO.com poll while Minnesota State (10) and Denver (11) swap places. Wisconsin is ranked 14th followed by the Mavs in 20th.
The Mavericks will play Minnesota State on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, if necessary, at the Verizon Wireless Center in Mankato, Minn. All three games begin at 7:07 p.m. The winner of this best-of-three series advances to the WCHA Final Five in St. Paul, Minn. which begins Thursday, March 21.
