Snow Scrubs Women's Golf Spring Opener
Mar 25, 2013 | General, Women's Golf
CARBONDALE, Ill. - The Omaha women's golf team will have to wait two more weeks before it can start the spring half of its season. Snow and ice have forced the cancelation of the Mavericks' first event of the spring, the Saluki Invitational at Southern Illinois.
The 11 teams competing in the event had played four holes at the Hickory Ridge Golf Course yesterday before weather halted play. At the time, the decision was made to complete the first round on Monday, shortening the 36-hole event to just 18 holes.
The Mavericks hope to have better luck for the next tournament on their schedule, the Kangaroo Invitational hosted by Summit League foe Kansas City on April 8-9.
