Mavs Face No. 19 Huskers in Lincoln on Wednesday

Due to unplayable field conditions in Omaha, Wednesday's rescheduled softball game between UNO and No. 19 Nebraska has been moved to Bowlin Stadium in Lincoln at 5 p.m. Due to the last-minute date and venue change, and as a thank you to fans of both UNO and Nebraska who have had to deal with multiple cancellations and postponements this spring, attendance for Wednesday's game will be free. Nebraska season-ticket holders will have their normal seat(s) reserved, while all other non-team seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. There will also be a link to a free live webcast of the game posted on OMavs.com. UNO will be the home team on the scoreboard for Wednesday's matchup. The Mavs were scheduled to open their home season against Nebraska on March 12, but the game was rescheduled to March 26 due to field conditions. Earlier this week, the game was moved from Tuesday to Wednesday due to a warmer forecast, before the game was ultimately moved to Lincoln.
Series History
UNO leads the all-time series, 15-14, since softball became a sanctioned sport at Nebraska in 1976. The Huskers picked up a 3-2 win over the Mavericks in Lincoln last Tuesday in a game in which the Mavs were one out away from knocking off the then-No. 20 Huskers. UNO led 2-1 with two outs gone in the bottom of the seventh inning, but NU's Mattie Fowler roped a single to right center to score runners from third and second to win the game. Nebraska has beaten UNO three times since the Mavs' transition to Division I last year - all by one run.
The Teams
The Mavs are off to a 22-3 start, marking the best start since the 2002 season when the Mavs began 25-2. The Mavs opened their season with eight straight wins and also boast a nine-game win streak this year, the longest since a 12-game win streak in late March and early April of 2011. UNO's scheduled home series with Fort Wayne this past weekend was canceled, so the Mavs have played just one game since March 10.
Nebraska (22-6, 2-0 Big Ten) is coming off a two-game sweep at home over Big Ten foe Northwestern in its conference opener. The third game of the series was canceled because of the weather. The Huskers split a home series with North Dakota State last week, falling 13-0 in game one and winning 11-0 (5 inn.) in the second game.

LINCOLN, Neb. - Mattie Fowler hit a two-run walk-off single to give No. 20 Nebraska a 3-2 win over the UNO softball team before 206 fans at Bowlin Stadium last Tuesday. The Huskers have beaten UNO three times since the Mavs' transition to Division I, all by one run. Dana Elsasser (13-3) gave up three earned runs on seven hits, two walks and three strikeouts. Tatum Edwards (12-4) allowed no earned runs on six walks and seven strikeouts. The Mavs led 2-1 with two outs gone in the bottom of the seventh before Fowler's clutch hit.
Up Next
After two canceled Summit League series in a row, the Mavs are set to begin Summit League play at South Dakota State on Friday at 2 and 4 p.m. The series concludes on Saturday at Noon.
About the Mavericks
• Leadoff hitter Allie Mathewson paces the Mavs with a .388 batting average, nine home runs, 27 RBIs, five doubles, five triples and 27 runs scored. She has a team-best .882 slugging percentage, which ranks 20th in the nation. Mathewson is tied for 33rd nationally with her nine home runs, is 22nd with 1.08 runs per game, and is tied for fourth with five triples.
• Junior Amber Lutmer has a .323 batting average with 10 home runs and 34 RBIs. Lutmer also has four doubles and one triple. Her 10 home runs are tied for 24th nationally, while her 1.36 RBIs per game rank seventh.

• In the circle, junior ace Dana Elsasser leads the Mavs with a 13-3 record and 1.62 ERA, along with two saves. Elsasser has 13 complete games and seven shutouts, along with a combined shutout. Her 13 wins are tied for the 24th most in the nation. Sophomore Kat Barrow and senior Ashton Hughes are a combined 9-0 for the Mavs.

• Brooke Thomason leads the Huskers at the plate with a .391 average, five home runs and 28 RBIs. She also has a team-high six doubles. Dawna Tyson hits .358 with three homers and 12 RBIs. Taylor Edwards hits .309 with a team-high six home runs to go with 25 RBIs. Tatum Edwards and Emily Lockman rotate in the circle for the Huskers. Edwards is 14-4 with a 1.81 ERA and has six shutouts. Edwards pitched a complete game in the win over UNO last Tuesday. Lockman is 8-2 with a 1.34 ERA and three shutouts.

Scheduled Summit League home series with North Dakota State and Fort Wayne have both been canceled because of unplayable field conditions. The series are not likely to be made up, reducing the Mavs' Summit League slate from 24 games to 18 games.
