
Mavs Finally Set to Play at Home

Seventeen days after its scheduled home opener, the UNO softball team is finally set to take the field at Westside Field at Westbrook for the first time on Friday, that is if the weather cooperates. The Mavericks will host South Dakota State in their first Summit League series with a doubleheader on Friday at 3 and 5 p.m. and the series finale on Saturday at Noon. The series was originally scheduled to be played in Brookings but was moved to Omaha because of poor field conditions at the Jackrabbits' home facility. The Mavericks will have a quick turnaround before their next home date, as they host North Dakota on Monday in a non-conference doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m. Live stats are available at OMavs.com.
Series History
UNO leads the all-time series with South Dakota State, 70-13-1. The Mavs and Jackrabbits last met in SDSU's final year in the North Central Conference, with UNO taking the season series, 2-1. However, SDSU won the last meeting on April 14 in Brookings, 5-4.
UNO leads the all-time series with North Dakota, 46-4. The teams played six times last season and split the season series, 3-3, as both were members of the Great West Conference before transitioning to different conferences this year. UNO beat North Dakota, 4-2 (10 inn.), on May 13 to end UND's season at the GWC Tournament last year. The Mavs also swept UND in Omaha, 2-0 and 8-3.
The Teams
The Mavs (22-4, 0-0 Summit League) are set to play their first conference series after canceled home series with North Dakota State and Fort Wayne. UNO has lost two in a row, both coming to top-20 foe Nebraska. The Mavs are 22-1 against unranked opponents this season.
South Dakota State (9-15, 1-2 Summit League) was run-ruled by IUPUI twice in its first Summit League series on March 15, falling 10-2 and 12-0 in five innings. The Jackrabbits rebounded with a 7-1 win in the series finale the next day.
North Dakota (8-19, 1-2 Big Sky) is in the midst of a nine-game road trip. UND plays a three-game series at Northern Colorado March 29-30, then visits Omaha on Monday. North Dakota then plays a doubleheader at South Dakota next Tuesday and a doubleheader at South Dakota State next Wednesday on its way home.
Last Time Out
LINCOLN, Neb. - The Mavericks fell 4-0 to No. 19 Nebraska on Wednesday before 362 fans at Bowlin Stadium. Nebraska's Taylor Edwards was 2-for-2 with an RBI double and solo home run. Allie Mathewson was 2-for-4 with a double and single for Omaha. Sydney Hames was 2-for-3.

• Devon Reick leads the Jackrabbits with a .420 average and 17 runs scored. Sammy Bingham hits .300 and is the top power threat with five home runs and 15 RBIs. Elyse Eitel and Alex Landon each hit .344. Kori Seidlitz is 5-10 with a 6.30 ERA. She has completed seven games and has one shutout. Jennifer Sutton has nine starts and is 3-4 with a 4.88 ERA. She also has one shutout on the season.

• D Jantzer hits .329 with two home runs and 15 RBIs to lead North Dakota. Four pitchers have made starts for UND this season. Caralyn Chewning is 3-2 with a 3.19 ERA. Emma Gronseth is 3-1 with a 4.00 ERA. Abby Jo Tometich is 0-8 with a 14.49 ERA. Senior Michelle Frank is 2-8 with an 11.64 ERA and has made the most starts of anyone (11), but she hasn't pitched in the last eight games.
