WICHITA, Kan. - The Omaha track & field team posted several personal bests in the distance events on day one of the KT Woodman Classic at Wichita State on Friday.
Katarina Zarudnaya took third place in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:39.66. Ashley Kildow set a new personal best, running a time of 4:51.22, finishing 13th while Lydia Martin had a PR of 4:55.95, her first time breaking the five-minute mark.
MiKayla Peck broke the 40-minute mark in the 10,000 meters for the first time, coming in fifth in a time of 39:27.92.
Amanda Vorthmann was third in the 3,000 steeplechase in a season-best time of 11:04.68, and Nicole Behm was fourth, setting a new personal best with a time of 11:10.88.
Two freshmen had PRs in the 5,000 meter run. Kristen Carmichael, running the race for the first time, ran a time of 18:57.32, putting her in 21st. Avery Scmidt broke the 20-minute mark with a time of 19:59.64.
Sami Spenner, competing in the javelin throw for the first time this season, threw a distance of 116 feet to come in 16th.
The second day of competition begins with field events at 10:30 a.m. and running events at 1 p.m.
