Guentzel Makes First Junior Cut

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - Incoming freshman forward Jake Guentzel is one of 31 players to make the first cut at the 2013 USA Hockey National Junior Evaluation Camp.
The players are auditioning for a spot on the U.S. National Junior Team that will take part in the 2014 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championships beginning in December in Malmo, Sweden.
Guentzel has earned one assist in two games for the U.S. which will play Sweden on Wednesday at 3:15 p.m. CT at the 1980 Herb Brooks Arena at the Olympic Center. The Americans then play Finland on Thursday at noon CT before finishing with Canada on Saturday, Aug. 10 at noon CT.
Most recently, UNO junior forward Josh Archibald played for the U.S. in the World Junior Championship in 2012. Maverick head coach Dean Blais coached the U.S. to a gold medal in 2010 and coached the team again in 2012.
