Mavericks Make a Move on Day One at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team made a move in the second round to put themselves in 10th place after the first 36 holes of the Chip-N-Club Invitational at Nebraska on Monday.
The Mavericks shot team rounds of 327-318 for a day one score of 645 at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course. The score has them just six shots out of eighth. Host Nebraska leads with a two-round total of 580. Central Arkansas is in second at 595, and Wichita State is third, just four shots back.
Katie Kesti led the Mavs on day one with scores of 80-77-157, putting her in a tie for 23rd overall. Sophie Peters is second for UNO, rebounding from an 83 in round one with a 77 in the second round for a score of 160, good for 160.
Newcomer Sarah Pravecek is third at 83-81-164, good for a tie for 47th in the 75 player field. Redshirt freshman Makenna Kroeker, in her first career tournament, fired rounds of 81 and 86 for a score of 167, tied for 57th.
Gentry Carveth, another redshirt freshman, rebounded from an opening round of 95 to shoot an 83 in the second round for a score of 178, putting her in a tie for 74th.
The tournament is the first of the season for the Mavericks. The final round begins with a shotgun start on Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m.
