LINCOLN, Neb. – The Omaha women's golf team took ninth place at the Chip-N-Club Invitational at Nebraska on Tuesday. The event was their first tournament of the fall season.
The Mavericks carded a 54-hole team score of 967 after a 322 in round three. Host Nebraska posted the best three-round score in tournament history, 874, to win by 18 strokes over runner-up Central Arkansas. Wichita State was third at 901.
Katie Kesti was UNO's top finisher after a round of 78 today. She finished with a two-day total of 235, a new career 54-hole record, to put her in a tie for 27th overall. Sophie Peters was second for the Mavs and tied for 36 overall with a three-round total of 240. She shot an 80 in round three.
Freshman Sarah Pravecek was third in team scoring at 247, closing with an 83 in round three. She finished in a tie for 49th. Makenna Kroeker was fourth at 248, closing with an 81 in the third round, to tie for 54th.
Gentry Carveth had a three-round total of 273 to finish 75th overall.
The Mavericks head to the North Dakota Fall Classic in Grand Forks, N.D. next Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 16-17.
