OXBOW, N.D. – Mitch Ryan tied his career best round on Tuesday, leading the Omaha men's golf team to a third-place finish at the Erv Kaiser Invitational at North Dakota State.
The Mavericks passed Minot State in round three with a score of 295 to finish with a total score of 913. Manitoba won the event with a score of 894 followed by host North Dakota State at 900.
Ryan tied for fifth overall at 223, his second straight week either leading the Mavs or tying for the team lead, after posting an even-par round of 72 on Tuesday. The 54-hole score also tied his career best. Alex Overfelt was second for the Mavs at 229 following a round of 77 in round three. He tied for 13th overall.
Alex Holtan and Karl Krieser each shot 73 in the third round. Holtan finished at 232, good for a tie for 18th and just one stroke ahead of Krieser who tied for 21st.
Taylor Sidzyik was fifth for the Mavs at 235, tied for 26th, after a round of 78 on Tuesday.
Freshman Lucas Gervais, playing as an individual, actually shot UNO's best score for the tournament at 221, a mark than included a team-best score of two-under-par 70 in round three. His score did not count toward UNO's team total.
The Mavericks have a week off before returning to the tee box at the Jim Colbert Intercollegiate at Kansas State on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.
