Mavericks Tied for Second at SIUE

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. – The Omaha women's golf team took advantage of good scoring conditions to sit in a tie for second place after the first round of the SIUE intercollegiate on Monday.
The Mavericks put up a team score of 324, just three strokes behind tournament leader Lipscomb. Valparaiso also shot 324 in the first round of the 36-hole event. Host SIUE is in fourth at 327.
Sophie Peters had UNO's best round of the day, shooting a 79 that included a one-over-par 37 on the front nine. She is in a tie for third overall in the field of 60 golfers.
Sarah Pravecek was second for the Mavs and in a tie for eighth with a round of 80, just one stroke ahead of teammate Katie Kesti who is tied for 11th overall.
Gentry Carveth carded an 84 in round one to sit fourth for the Mavericks and in a tie for 21st overall. Makenna Kroeker is two strokes behind Carveth, good for a tie for 26th.
Kat Slump, playing as an individual, shot a 99 in round one.
The final round will begin with a shotgun start on Tuesday at 8 a.m. from the Sunset Hills Country Club.
