Mavericks In Action at Kansas State

Manhattan Kan. – The UNO track and field team finished the weekend strong with one first place finish and a number of personal bests at the K-State Invitational.
Among the highlights, Katarina Zarudnaya won the mile run with a time of 4:59.67 with teammates Lindsey Bruns and Kristin Rogers both setting new personal records in the race finishing eighth and ninth, respectively. Ashley Kildow finished the 800 meter run in second place with a time of 2:19.55.
Sami Spenner continued her busy weekend competing in two events on Saturday, setting a new personal record in the shot put with a throw of 39-06 ½ and finishing eighth while also finishing fifth in the high jump. Amanda Conlin also set a new PR in the shot put with a throw of 42-01 ½ finishing fourth.
Denneil Shaw finished second in the long jump with a leap of 18-01 ¾ and also set a new PR in the 60 meter dash with a time of 8.10.
Catherine Davison and Jackie Mezick both set new personal records in the 1000 meter run while Claire Cunningham and Emily Moore also set new PR's in the 800 meter run.
The Mavericks are back in action next weekend at the Jack Jennett Invitational in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The meet starts Friday with the multi-event competitors at 1:30 p.m.
