Mavs Finish Non-Conference Play Against Milwaukee

The Omaha women's basketball team concludes non-conference action with a 2 p.m. game against Milwaukee at the Sapp Fieldhouse on Sunday. The Mavericks are looking to extend their five-game win streak while searching for a perfect 7-0 record in non-conference home games this season. The Teams
The Mavericks (8-5) are riding a five-game win streak and are a perfect 6-0 at the Sapp Fieldhouse this season with a seven-game win streak at home dating back to last season. In the five-game win streak, the Mavs have averaged 81.8 points per game. The Mavs lead all Summit League teams in lowest opponent shooting percentage (34.9) and 3-point defense (25.4 percent). The Mavs' 62.5 points per game allowed ranks second among league teams. Offensively, the Mavs are third in scoring (75.5 ppg) and third in field goal percentage (45.0). UNO ranks second in rebounding (41.4 per game) and in turnovers with just 14.3 giveaways per game, 1.5 per game fewer than last season. The Mavs lead all league teams with 5.2 blocked shots per game.
Milwaukee enters with a 3-9 record. The Panthers have beaten North Dakota State, New Mexico State and Illinois State. UWM is coming off a 79-57 loss at Drake on Dec. 29. Angela Rodriguez scores a team-high 17.2 points per game and leads the team with 5.8 assists per game. Ashley Green averages 13.8 ppg, while Avyanna Young adds 12.6 ppg and 9.8 rebounds per game.

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's basketball team closed out 2013 with an 80-72 win over Doane on Tuesday afternoon at the Sapp Fieldhouse. It was the fifth straight win for the Mavericks, the most since a six-game win streak near the end of the 2008-09 season. The Mavericks improved to 8-5 on the season and 6-0 at home on Head Coach Brittany Lange's 27th birthday. Doane remained 4-9 overall as it counted the game as an exhibition. Ericka House had a team-high 21 points for the Mavs, while Madi Robson had a career-high 15. Lanese Bough scored a career-high 14 points to go with a career-best-tying six assists and three steals. Sami Pawlak and Felicia Anderson each had 12 points, and they combined for 18 points in the second half to spark the Mavs. UNO finished the game with a school-record-tying 10 blocked shots. Taijhe Kelly had six blocked shots to go with 12 rebounds and four points.

• Ericka House ranks third in The Summit League with 18.0 points per game. House's 3.2 three-pointers per game are the most in the league and tied for 17th nationally. She is shooting 87.1 percent (27-of-31) from the free throw line to rank second in the conference. The senior from Hot Springs, Ark., has five 20-point games this year and has led UNO in scoring eight times.
• Taijhe Kelly leads the league with 3.5 blocked shots per game and ranks sixth nationally. Already ranking second at UNO in career blocked shots with 162, Kelly is now 10th in career offensive rebounds with 145. The junior center is 27 offensive boards away from the top five. She has reached double-digit rebounds in three straight games and is now fourth in the league with 7.0 boards per game.
• Freshman guard Madi Robson is averaging 5.2 assists per game to rank second in The Summit League. Her assist-to-turnover ratio of 2.3 ranks third in the conference. Robson has become an all-around threat of late, scoring a career-high 15 points in the 80-72 win over Doane on Dec. 31. She has averaged 12.0 points per game over the last five games while scoring 4.0 points per game through the first eight games of the season.
• Lanese Bough is coming off a career performance against Doane on Dec. 31. The junior transfer scored a career-high 14 points in the win while tying career bests with six assists and three steals.
• The Mavericks have scored 80 or more points in four of their six home games this season after scoring 80 or more points just twice all of last season.
