Mavs Add Indiana State Transfer Beckwith to Roster

OMAHA, Neb. - The UNO women's basketball program announced the addition of Albion, Neb., native and former Indiana State guard Bobbi Beckwith to its roster on Wednesday.
A 5-10 guard, Beckwith starred at Iowa Western Community College from 2011-13 and signed with Indiana State last May. Beckwith spent the summer and the fall semester with the Sycamores before transfering closer to home for the start of the spring semester. She did not appear in any games at ISU and will be eligible to practice immediately with the Mavs. She cannot compete in game action until January 2015, and she will then have 1.5 years (three semesters) of eligibility remaining.
Beckwith was one of the best 3-point shooters in the National Junior College Athletic Association in 2012-13 at IWCC, ranking fifth nationally in 3-point field goal percentage (46.2) and 11th in 3-pointers made (74). She averaged 9.6 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 1.5 steals per game while leading the Reivers to a 24-6 record, playing both point guard and shooting guard. Beckwith hit 88.5 percent of her free throws and averaged 2.5 made 3-pointers per game. As a freshman in 2011-12, Beckwith averaged 6.2 points per game and was second on the team in assists and steals. She was a two-time academic all-region selection and held additional offers from Seton Hall and UAB after her IWCC career.
In high school, Beckwith was a standout at Boone Central, earning second-team all-state honors and multiple all-conference and all-area selections.
"Bobbi is an outstanding addition to our program, and while she is not eligible to play in games for another year, she is going to be a huge asset for our team in practices and off the court," Head Coach Brittany Lange said. "Bobbi is a hard-working, consistent player with a high basketball IQ, and she is a special shooter, especially from 3-point range. Bobbi is a Nebraska girl and she brings a competitiveness and team-first attitude that will have a very positive impact on our program. Most importantly, she is a tremendous student and a great person. We're excited she is coming home to be a Maverick."
