Massa Named NCHC Goaltender of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Senior Ryan Massa was named the NCHC's Goaltender of the Week for his work in the Omaha hockey team's two wins at Western Michigan last weekend.
Massa compiled a 1.00 goals-against average and a.965 save percentage in the two games and now ranks third in the NCHC with a 1.67 GAA and a .939 save percentage for all games.
In Friday's 5-2 win, he made 37 saves, the third-highest total of his career, while helping UNO go 7-for-7 on the penalty kill. The next night, he stopped all 18 shots he faced to pitch his first shutout of the season and third of his career.
Massa totaled 55 saves on 57 shots against the Broncos while leading Omaha to a perfect 10-for-10 penalty kill in the series.
The award marks the third time the native of Littleton, Colo. has earned the NCHC's weekly award for goaltenders.
The Mavericks have the week off before returning to action with a non-conference series at Cornell on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 31 – Nov. 1.
