Men's Golf Announces Two Signees

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha men's golf head coach Seth Porter announced today the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent.
Kevin Gordon (Oshawa, Ontario) and Sam Musch (Rapid City, S.D.) will join the Mavericks in the 2015-16 academic year.
Gordon will complete his senior season this spring. He is a three-year letter winner in golf at Sinclair Secondary School in Whitby, Ontario and has played extensively in tournaments in both Canada and the U.S. This fall, he helped Sinclair to a third-place finish in the conference fall stroke play championship.
“Kevin spent the summer playing all over the U.S. and Canada,” said Porter. “Not only does he have a nice golf swing, but he also has the ability to make a lot of birdies. He recently made nine birdies in one round in a high school event. He shows a very good level of maturity on the golf course.”
Musch recently finished his senior season for Stevens High School where he helped the Raiders to a third-place finish at the South Dakota state tournament. He tied for second overall in a field of 106 golfers at the championship. A four-year letter winner, Musch helped Stevens finish no lower than fifth in three of four trips to the state tournament.
“Sam brings a great amount of national tournament experience,” said Porter. “He is a very consistent player and has a great mentality for the game. He is very comfortable in big situations, and his attitude will help him transition from high school golf to college golf rather seamlessly and become a contributor early in his career.”
The Mavericks begin their spring season at the Atchafalaya Intercollegiate hosted by Nicholls State on Monday and Tuesday, Feb. 23-24.
