Mavericks Complete Day Two at Iowa State

AMES, Iowa – The Omaha track and field team wrapped up the Iowa State Invitational with a first place finish and two new personal records.
Sami Spenner finished first in the triple jump with a leap of 41-05 ¾ with teammate Denneil Shaw finishing eighth with a jump of 38-01 ¼. The win marks the fourth time that Spenner has won the event this year while also leading the Summit League in the event by nearly three feet.
Alyssa Thavanet set a new personal record in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:20.87, finishing eighth; and Terri Armstrong set a new PR in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.32.
The Mavericks will return to action next Saturday traveling to Lincoln for the Nebraska tune-up at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. A start time has yet to be announced.
