Elsasser, Lutmer Take Summit League Awards

OMAHA, Neb. - Omaha softball pitcher Dana Elsasser was named Summit League Co-Pitcher of the Week, and first baseman Amber Lutmer earned Summit League Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Elsasser was the league's pitcher of the week four times last season, and this marks the ninth career weekly honor for the Hershey, Neb., native. She shared the weekly award with North Dakota State's Krista Menke. For Lutmer, it was her first career Summit League weekly honor and the third weekly conference award in her career.
Lutmer had a monster weekend at the UTSA Mid-Major classic to lead the Mavs to a perfect 5-0 record. She hit a team-high .556 with four home runs (two grand slams) and a team-best 17 RBI on the weekend. Lutmer had a 1.222 slugging percentage and a .619 on-base percentage. She also extended her reached-base streak to 47 straight games with a hit in every game on the weekend. Lutmer leads the Summit League with seven home runs and 27 RBI already this season, 12 more RBI the next closest competitor. Playing with an illness, Lutmer was in the zone on Saturday, going 7-for-8 (.875) in a doubleheader with three home runs (including her third grand slam of the season), 12 RBI and five runs.
Elsasser earned four of the five wins in the circle to lift the Mavericks. She posted a 1.08 ERA in 26.0 innings on the weekend, allowing just four earned runs. Elsasser started three games and earned complete-game wins in all of them. She also came on in relief in the fourth inning of a slugfest against A&M-Corpus Christi and pitched 4.0 no-hit, shutout innings and tallied three strikeouts to settle the Mavericks in a 15-14 win. Elsasser also pitched a three-hitter with no earned runs in a 3-1 win over UTSA. She is first in the Summit League with eight wins on the season and second in ERA at 1.48.
