Archibald, Guentzel Headline NCHC Conference Teams

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha hockey junior forward Josh Archibald was the top vote getter for the inaugural NCHC All-Conference First Team, it was announced on Wednesday.
Freshman forward Jake Guentzel also was tops in the voting for the NCHC's All-Rookie Team.
Archibald captured the NCHC scoring title with 32 points, five more than anyone else, while also leading the conference with 21 goals in 24 NCHC games, eight more than any other player. He was the only NCHC player to record two hat tricks in conference play and scored an NCHC-best five game-winners, as well. He received 40 points in the voting including 13 first-place votes.
He is joined on the NCHC All-Conference First Team by Nic Dowd of St. Cloud State, Austin Czarnik of Miami, Dillon Simpson of North Dakota, and Joey LaLeggia and Sam Brittain of Denver.
Senior forward Ryan Walters also earned Honorable Mention All-Conference recognition.
Guentzel led all freshmen with 27 points in conference play, which tied for second in overall scoring, while his 21 assists led the entire NCHC. He received 38 points in the voting including 12 first-place votes.
He is joined on the NCHC All-Rookie Team by Alex Iafallo of Minnesota Duluth, Trevor Moore of Denver, Jaccob Slavin of Colorado College, Paul LaDue of North Dakota and Charlie Lindgren of St. Cloud State.
The all-conference and all-rookie teams were chosen by the head coaches and one player from all eight NCHC schools.
The Mavericks will host Denver in the quarterfinals of the NCHC Playoffs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, if necessary, March 13-15. Thursday and Friday's games start at 7:37 p.m., and a potential Saturday game starts at 7:07 p.m. from the CenturyLink Center.
