The Omaha men's basketball team (17-14, 5-9 Summit League) continues its first Division I postseason run this week, traveling to Murray State for the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT) on Monday, March 24. Scouting the Murray State Racers
Murray State enters Monday's game with a record of 19-11 (13-3 Ohio Valley) after a 66-63 win at Missouri State last Wednesday in first-round CIT action. Jarvis Williams led all scorers with 20 points on 8-of-11 shooting, adding 10 rebounds for a double-double. Jeffrey Moss finished just shut of a double-double of his own with 10 points and eight boards, and Cameron Payne finished the night with 10 points.
Four MSU players average in double figures, led by Payne's 16.3 points per game. Williams is next with 14.6 points and a team-best 10.4 rebounds per contest, followed by T.J. Sapp (14.0 ppg) and Jeffery Moss (13.3 ppg).
The Racers are led by third-year head coach Steve Prohm, who is 71-23 over his career. MSU has made 15 NCAA Tournament appearances, its most recent in 2012. The Racers have put together a string of 27 consecutive winning seasons dating back to 1988. This week marks the first meeting in program history between Omaha and Murray State.

Omaha made history last Wednesday night, earning its program's first Division I postseason win with a 91-75 triumph over North Dakota in the first round of the CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament (CIT).
UNO was led by a magnificent performance from junior forward Mike Rostampour, whose third career double-double came with 16 points and a career-high 21 rebounds. His rebound total was the sixth-highest for a single game in school history, tying Terry Sodawasser (1983-84) and Al Lainio (2000). Rostampour, a native of West St. Paul, Minn., had 14 boards in the first half alone, the most since former Maverick Justin Petersen had 12 in the first half against St. Cloud State on Feb. 2, 2008.
Four other Mavericks joined Rostampour to score in double figures for the night: senior center John Karhoff (17), junior guard CJ Carter (14), senior guard Alex Phillips (13) and sophomore guard Marcus Tyus (13).
As a team, Omaha shot 55 percent (33-of-60) from the field, including 61 percent (19-of-31) in the second half. North Dakota finished at 41 percent (29-of-71) for the night.
Rostampour Makes His Mark
Junior forward Mike Rostampour has started all 31 games this season after redshirting in 2012-13. The transfer from St. Cloud State has averaged 9.3 points and a team-leading 7.3 rebounds per game, the latter of which ranks second in the Summit League. Rostampour's numbers were even better in conference play, in which he averaged 9.5 points and 7.3 boards per contest.
This year, Omaha is 9-5 when Rostampour pulls down eight or more rebounds in a game. He demolished his previous career best of 12 boards in the first round of the CIT against North Dakota, pulling down a career-high 21 rebounds for his third career double-double this season.
League Leaders
With a strong 2013-14 season, the Mavericks have ranked among the top statistical performers in the conference all year long. As a team, Omaha tops the league in points per game (80.5), field goals made per game (27.8), free throws made per game (18.1), free throw percentage (.770), offensive rebounds per game (10.5), assists per game (15.6) and steals per game (8.2).
Individually, sophomore guard Devin Patterson was the Summit League's steals leader for the entire regular season, as he has compiled 55 total swipes and averaged 1.8 steals per game.
No Longer the Newcomers
Omaha is in its third year as a reclassifying Division I school in 2013-14 and its second as a member of the Summit League. In 2012-13, the Mavericks played their first full season as a member of the conference, finishing 6-10 in league play and sixth in the standings.
UNO is ineligible for the Summit League Tournament and NCAA/NIT postseason play until 2015-16 but will play a full regular-season conference schedule through its transitional years. It is, however, eligible for the College Basketball Invitational (CBI) and CollegeInsider.com Tournament (CIT) in the postseason. The CIT extended an invitation to the Mavericks earlier this month, and Omaha was the first reclassifying school to receive an at-large bid in the tournament's history.
