Portland State Gets Past Mavericks, 4-3

Omaha, Neb. - The Omaha men's tennis team dropped a 4-3 match against Portland State on Thursday morning at the Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center.
With the loss, the Mavericks are now 5-11 on the season. Portland State improved to 3-13.
PSU swept the doubles matches for the doubles point, before splitting the singles matches with the Mavs three apiece for the 4-3 win.
In doubles action, Adam Dockery and Eric McKnight fell to Brent Wheeler and Ian Risenhoover, 8-5 at No. 1 while Tyler Mercier and Nathan Greteman were defeated by Wil Cochrane and Wil Selmaszak, 8-2 at No. 2. The No. 3 doubles match saw Alec Marx and Abhinav Mishra defeat Erik Anderson and Colin Buckley, 8-2.
Mercier picked up a win at No. 1 singles over Wheeler, 6-2, 6-2 and McKnight topped Cochrane, 6-4, 7-5 at No. 2. The Mavs earned their other point when Anderson defeated Nate Chart, 7-6, 6-2 at No. 6 singles. Omaha had many chances to win the match but couldn't capitalize as James McManus fell to Marx at No. 4 singles 6-7, 6-3, 6-4 and Buckley was defeated by Mishra, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 at No. 5. The No. 2 singles match saw Stelmaszak defeat Dockery, 6-3, 6-3.
Omaha will look to rebound tomorrow when they host Chicago State. The match will begin at 6 p.m. from the Hanscom Brandeis Tennis Center.
