Schoonover Named Summit League Pitcher of the Week

OMAHA, Neb. – Senior left-handed pitcher Steven Schoonover was named Summit League Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance the week of April 7-13, the conference office announced Monday.
Schoonover earned his second career Pitcher of the Week honor and first win of the season over North Dakota State on Saturday. The southpaw from Olympia, Wash., tossed a complete-game seven-inning shutout over the Bison, allowing just one hit. He recorded three strikeouts and one walk in the 10-0 Maverick victory, and he is now 1-1 with a 0.90 ERA for the season.
Schoonover shares the honor with Aaron Michel of Western Illinois, who picked up a win at Fort Wayne over the weekend with a career-high 10 strikeouts. Neil DeCook of Western Illinois was also named Summit League Player of the Week.
