Mavericks Sweep Bradley With 11-6 Win

Senior reliever Dylan Casey (2-0) picked up the win, throwing 2.0 scoreless innings with one hit and one walk allowed and two strikeouts. Stephen Toma (2-4) took the loss, surrendering four runs on six hits and one walk in 2.1 innings of relief work.
Sophomore Clayton Taylor led UNO offensively, finishing 3-for-4 with a run scored and three more driven in. Senior Brett Bass and sophomores Andrew Dergan and Collin Leif each had two hits on the day, and Bass senior Caleb Palensky and junior Daniel Jewett all accounted for two RBI apiece.
In the bottom of the first, Bradley went up early by 2-0, starting off with Chris Godinez's leadoff home run to left center. With one out, Max Murphy tripled to right center, then scored on Greg Partyka's RBI groundout. The score was extended to 3-0 with Isaac Smith's leadoff homer to left.
The Mavericks came back to tie the game in the top of the fifth. Jewett and Splichal both drew walks, and a Dergan sacrifice grounder put both runners in scoring position. Leif then singled in Jewett to make it 3-1. With two outs, Taylor doubled to right center, plating a pair of runs and knotting it at 3-3.
BU went back up 5-3 in the bottom of the frame, as Smith scored on Spencer Gaa's sacrifice fly, and Murphy came in on Tyler Leffler's RBI single to center.
The eighth inning saw Omaha power past the Braves with eight runs on eight hits. The Mavericks batted around the order, with all but one UNO players scoring a run. Taylor notched a double, a single, a run scored and another driven in in the inning, while Bass had a pair of singles, two RBI and a run tallied. Palensky also accounted for two runs driven in, a double and a run scored.
Bradley managed one final run in the ninth with Smith coming in on Murphy's sacrifice fly, bringing the final score to 11-6.
UNO returns to action on Tuesday, April 22, facing crosstown rival Creighton. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m. at TD Ameritrade Park Omaha.
