Mavs Head to Lincoln to Battle Huskers

The Omaha softball team travels to Lincoln on Tuesday to face No. 20 Nebraska at 5 p.m. at Bowlin Stadium. It marks the second game of the two-game series between the squads this season, as the Huskers came to Omaha on March 26 and topped the Mavs, 10-0 in five innings. The Mavericks
• Amber Lutmer leads the Summit League and ranks tied for seventh nationally with 14 home runs and she has a league-best 38 RBI. Lutmer is the Mavs' top hitter so far this season with a .372 batting average. She is the school-record holder for career homers (48) and is 22 RBI away from tying the career school mark of 167. Lutmer's 48 career homers rank sixth among active Division I players.
• The top three home run hitters in the Summit League are all Mavericks. In addition to Lutmer's 14 homers, Campbell Ditto and Allie Mathewson each have eight. The Mavs lead the league with 38 home runs this season.
• Mathewson hits .357 to go with her eight homers, 29 runs and 21 RBI. She has eight doubles and two triples for a team-high 18 extra-base hits. Scouting Nebraska
The Huskers (26-12, 5-4 Big Ten) are led by the Edwards twins. Taylor Edwards has a team-best .384 batting average, 10 home runs, 34 runs scored and 21 RBI. Tatum Edwards is 14-8 in the circle with a 2.15 ERA. Emily Lockman is 12-4 with a 2.50 ERA. Among NU's other top hitters, Hailey Decker chips in a .338 average with seven home runs and 30 RBI, along with a team-high 13 doubles. The Husker pitching staff is holding opponents to a .221 batting average. NU is coming off a 2-1 weekend at Illinois. The Huskers are averaging 5.2 runs per game and allowing just 2.9.

Last Time Out
After last Tuesday's doubleheader against Kansas City was canceled, the Mavericks went 1-2 hosting North Dakota State over the weekend at Westside Field at Westbrook. All three games against the Bison were decided by one run. North Dakota State earned the sweep on Saturday, 4-3 and 3-2. But the Mavs rebounded on Sunday for a 1-0 victory. In the Mavs' lone win, Dana Elsasser threw a seven-hit shutout with eight strikeouts. Amber Lutmer hit her Summit League-best 14th home run of the season for the game's only run. Lutmer had the only two Maverick hits on the day, also adding a double, but her bomb in the third inning was all the Mavs needed. Despite picking up the loss in game two on Saturday, Kat Barrow turned in her best performance of the season. Barrow pitched a complete game and allowed just five hits and one earned run with no walks and four strikeouts against the Bison.
