Schoonover Named Summit League Pitcher of the Week

OMAHA, Neb. – Senior left-handed pitcher Steven Schoonover was named Summit League Co-Pitcher of the Week for his performance May 12-18, the conference office announced Monday morning. The awards mark the final ones of the season.
Schoonover captured his second Pitcher of the Week award this season after throwing a complete-game seven-inning shutout in the first game of Friday's doubleheader at Western Illinois. The southpaw from Olympia, Wash., allowed seven hits with one strikeout and no runs scored in the seven innings to improve to 3-2 on the season with a league-best 1.58 ERA. Schoonover shares the honor with Reed Pfannenstein of North Dakota State.
In total, Omaha earned nine Summit League Player of the Week or Pitcher of the Week awards this season. The Mavericks won their second straight conference regular-season championship and finished the season at 31-20 (15-9 Summit League).
