Omaha Earns NABC Team Academic Excellence Award

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Omaha men's basketball program was one of more than 125 teams around the country to earn the National Association of Basketball Coaches 2013-14 Team Academic Excellence Award, the NABC announced Wednesday.
UNO's 14 student-athletes on the 2013-14 roster combined to achieve a 3.114 cumulative GPA as a team. This marks Omaha's first Team Academic Excellence Award since the NABC introduced the accolade in 2012-13.
The Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade-point average of 3.0 or higher for the 2013-14 season. In order to earn the honor, institutions in NCAA Division I, II, II and NAIA Division I and II must count the GPAs of all men's basketball student-athletes who competed during the past season.
Three players were also named to the annual NABC Honors Court this week, as departed seniors Matt Hagerbaumer, John Karhoff and Caleb Steffensmeier were placed on the list for the second straight year.
