Omaha Holds Off Competition, Wins Grinnell Invite

GRINNELL, Iowa – The Omaha swimming & diving team wrapped up the Grinnell Invite Saturday night at the Charles Benson Bear Recreation and Athletic Center finishing on top of the competition with 1067 total points.
Omaha was led by sophomore Morgan Stepp who registered two individual event victories on the night. The Parker, Colo., native established a new pool record and took the top spot in the 100 fly finishing with a time of 57.79. Stepp also claimed a victory in the 100 breast (1:07.16) touching the pad with a team-best time for the event.
Natalie Renshaw took the reigns in 200 back as the junior established a new pool record and swam to a personal season-best time of 2:05.45 in the event. Renshaw also placed second in the 100 breast finishing behind teammate Morgan Stepp with a personal season-best time of 1:08.05.
Freshman Sam Starke picked up an individual victory in the 400 IM finishing with a personal season-best time of 4:37.95 in the event.
Senior Jenna Foiles fell short of a victory in the 200 free finishing in second with a time of 1:56.37.
The 400 free relay team of Foiles, Renshaw, freshman Baylee Kniep and freshman Olivia McLain took the second spot in the event with a time of 3:39.77.
The Mavs return to the pool on Friday, Jan. 23 when they step back into conference action at Western Illinois. The meet from Brophy Hall Pool in Macomb, Ill. is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
