Mavericks Hit New Heights in Polls

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team is ranked fifth in both weekly college hockey polls this week, its highest ranking in four years.
The Mavericks moved up from eighth to fifth in both the top-15 poll from USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine and the top-20 poll from USCHO.com in spite of being idle last week. The Mavericks are one of five NCHC teams in both polls joining North Dakota (1), Minnesota Duluth (7), Miami (8/9) and Denver (11/12).
The last time the Mavericks were ranked in the top five came during the 2010-11 season when they were ranked fourth, the highest ranking in school history. The Mavericks capped that season with an appearance in the NCAA tournament.
The Mavericks are back home this week to host No. 1 North Dakota on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 30-31. Friday's game begins at 7:37 p.m., and Saturday's game starts at 7:07 p.m. Friday's game will be broadcast nationally on CBS Sports Network while Saturday's game will be shown statewide on NET1 and regionally on Fox College Sports Central.
