Garcia Leads Mavericks at Bradley

PEORIA, Ill. – Karo Garcia led the Omaha cross country team for the third meet of the season as the Mavericks competed at the Bradley Classic on Friday.
Garcia ran the course in a time of 22:03.9, 2:09 faster than her time on the same course last year. She was 87th overall.
The Mavericks scored 764 points, good for 27th in the massive 30-team field split up into two separate races, the red and white.
Perla Gutierrez was second for the Mavericks and 164th overall in a time of 22:58.7, 1:12 faster than last season. Alyssa Averhoff was right behind in 168th place with a time of 23:02.9, a 1:26 improvement over last season.
Rosie Gensichen, running the race for the first time, was fourth for UNO and 170th overall in a time of 23:13.6. Avery Schmidt completed the scoring for the Mavericks, running a time of 23:23.6, putting her 175th. Her time was 1:58 faster than last year.
The Mavericks are back in action next weekend at the Mount Marty Invite on Saturday, Oct. 24.
