Omaha Opens Challenging Weekend at Kansas Classic

TOPEKA, Kan. – The Omaha swimming & diving team opened the Kansas Classic Friday evening, finishing the day in sixth place with a cumulative total of 46 points through five events.
A pair of Omaha's 400 medley relay teams had their best meets of the season with their performances tonight. The quartet of senior Natalie Renshaw, juniors Tiril Jensen and Morgan Stepp and sophomore Cassie Jahn put together a season-low time of 3:57.33 in the event. Another foursome of Mavs also found success, as juniors Meredith Ricks and Jamie Dhabalt and sophomores Sam Starke and Mackenzie Ritter racked up UNO's third-fastest event time (4:02.50) this season.
The 200 free relay team also added a season-low time, as Renshaw, Ritter, Jahn and freshman Kirsten Kracke teamed up to finish in 1:38.36.
Stepp, from Parker, Colo., also topped a personal-best time in the 200 IM (2:07.71), and the mark was a season-low time for any Maverick in the event this year. Renshaw finished just behind Stepp in the 200 IM, clocking a time of 2:08.13.
Omaha returns to action Saturday, Nov. 21 with day two of the Kansas Classic. Prelims are slated to begin at 1 p.m., while the final heats are scheduled to get underway at 5 p.m.
