Mavericks Remain in Sixth at Kansas Classic

TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Omaha swimming & diving team continued its trip in the Sunflower State Saturday evening, competing at the Kansas Classic. The Mavericks remain in sixth place in the team standings after the second day of competition and have racked up 92 cumulative points through 12 events.

In the 200 medley relay, the foursome of senior Natalie Renshaw, juniors Tiril Jensen and Morgan Stepp, and sophomore Cassie Jahn registered a season-low time of 1:48.98 for the event.

Stepp also topped her personal-best time in the 100 fly, registering a season-low mark of 58.71.

Omaha notched a strong performance in the 200 free, as Renshaw added another season-best time in the event at 1:53.83. Freshman Kylie Vermeire also had a strong showing in the event, registering a personal-best time of 1:57.82.

Jensen, who hails Lillesand, Norway, swam to her fastest time of the year in the 100 breast, striking a season-low time of 1:05.38.

In Omaha's inaugural 800 free relay event of the season, the Maverick quartet of Stepp, Vermeire, Jahn and Renshaw competed strong, finishing in a time of 7:50.50.

Omaha returns to the pool Sunday, Nov. 22 for the final day of the Kansas Classic.
