Mavericks Inch Up In Weekly Polls

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team is ranked sixth and seventh in the two weekly college hockey polls released today.

The Mavericks are sixth in the top-20 poll from USCHO.com and seventh in the top-15 poll from USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine. That puts them up two spots in the USCHO poll and one position in the USA Today poll following a sweep of then-No. 6/7 Minnesota Duluth last weekend.

UNO has not been outside the top 10 in the USCHO.com poll all season and spent two weeks at No. 2, its highest ranking ever in that poll. The Mavericks were ranked 11th in the USA Today preseason poll, but they have resided in the top 10 ever since including two weeks in the No. 1 spot for the first time in school history.

Six NCHC schools reside in the USCHO.com poll including North Dakota (3), UNO, Denver (8), St. Cloud State (9), Minnesota Duluth (13) and Miami (17). Those same schools except Miami reside in the USA Today poll with North Dakota (4) ranked highest followed by UNO, St. Cloud State (9), Denver (10) and Minnesota Duluth (13).

The Mavericks have a week off before traveling to Miami on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 20-21.
