Mavs Finish Day One of Summit League Championship

The Omaha Mavericks opened competition on day one of the Summit League Championship in Fargo, N.D. on Friday.
The Mavericks are currently in seventh place with three points with most of the points to be awarded on day two.
In the 60 meters preliminaries, Terri Armstrong finished in a qualifying time of 7.88, Payton Horacek marked a season best 8.07 qualifying finish, Maddie Buller posted a personal best qualifying time of 8.11 and Nicole Liske finished in 8.18. In the semi finals, Armstrong qualified for the finals with a time of 7.92.
Stephanie Ahrens qualified for the 60 meter hurdles finals with a personal best time of 9.13.
Ashley Kildow ran the 3,000 meters in 9:59.92, earning her eighth place.
Karo Garcia, Kayla Sabotin, Hannah Fowler and Alyssa Averhoff made up the distance medley team. They recorded a time of 12:55.28, good for seventh place.
Megan Adams earned 10th place in the weight throw breaking her personal best record by three feet with a 48-08 ¾ mark.
Two Mavericks competed in the pentathlon. Senior Amanda Alexander posted personal best marks in the 60 meter hurdles (9.96), high jump (5-02 ¼) and in the 800 meter run (2:40.23). Alexander also had a 35-03 mark in the shot put and a 16-01 ½ mark in the long jump. She scored a total 3,115 points, good for ninth place.
Freshman Emily Everitt also set personal best marks in the high jump (5-05 ¾) and in the 800 meter run (2:35.02). Everitt finished the 60 meter hurdles in 11.32, threw the shot put 26-01 ½ and posted a 16-08 ¾ leap in the long jump. She scored 2,918 points, earning her 10th place.
The second day of competition begins Saturday at 2 p.m. in Fargo, N.D.
