Mavericks Move Up In One Weekly Poll

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team moved up one spot in one weekly poll and stayed put in the other heading into the last weekend of the regular season.
The Mavericks are ranked seventh in the weekly top-15 poll from USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine, up one spot from last week. They remained eighth in the weekly top-20 poll from USCHO.com.
Omaha is coming off a pair of 1-1 ties at Minnesota Duluth last weekend. The Mavericks went on to win the shootout each night to earn two extra standings points. They enter the final weekend of the NCHC regular season in third place with a record of 11-8-3-3, good for 39 points. They are two behind second-place Miami and just one ahead of fourth-place Denver. They are 17-10-5 overall.
The Mavericks are again one of five NCHC teams in the weekly polls. North Dakota (1/1), Miami (5/5), Minnesota Duluth (6/6) and Denver (7/8) are the others.
The Mavericks will host Colorado College on Friday and Saturday, March 6-7. On Saturday, the Mavericks will honor their senior class: Ryan Massa, Kyle Mountain, Brian O'Rourke, James Polk and Dominic Zombo.
