Carter, Rostampour Earn All-Summit Accolades

OMAHA, Neb. -- Senior guard CJ Carter and senior forward Mike Rostampour were named to the 2015 All-Summit Men's Basketball Teams, the conference office announced Thursday. Carter earned second-team all-league recognition, while Rostampour was an honorable mention pick.
Carter, a graduate of Omaha Benson, capped his four-year Maverick career as UNO's fifth-best all-time scorer with 1,502 points, and he was seventh for career field goals made (533) and assists (343), eighth for steals (149), 10th for 3-pointers made (142) and 18th for blocks (40). In his senior campaign, Carter averaged a team-leading 16.9 points per game alongside 2.3 rebounds, 2.7 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.7 blocks per contest while shooting .454 from the field.
Carter finished the regular season ranked third in the conference for scoring, including 18.4 points per game in Summit League play, and he was second in the league in field goals made (176), third in in total points (490) and fifth in steals (43). Carter was twice named Summit League Player of the Week as a senior, garnering the awards on Nov. 24 and Jan. 19. He closed the year with 23 double-figure scoring games, including 10 with 20 or more points.
Rostampour was the Summit League's leader for offensive rebounds (85) and ranked second in for rebounds per game (7.7) and total boards (222). In addition, he averaged 10.2 points, 0.9 steals and 0.5 blocks per contest, starting all 29 games. A native of West St. Paul, Minn., Rostampour had 17 double-figure scoring games and seven double-figure rebounding performances, which included a team-high five double-doubles.
Omaha concluded the 2014-15 season on a three-game win streak, and in their final year of Division I reclassification, the Mavericks went 12-17 (5-11 Summit League).
