Mavericks Get Rousing Send Off

OMAHA, Neb. – The Omaha hockey team was greeted by more than 400 fans for a Frozen Four send-off on Monday night at the Scott Conference Center on campus.
The fans turned out to wish the Mavericks well in their first-ever appearance in the Frozen Four. UNO plays Providence on Thursday, April 9 at 4 p.m. CT at TD Garden in Boston. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.
Fans heard from head coach Dean Blais and captains Dominic Zombo, Brian O'Rourke and James Polk. They also heard from Chancellor John Christensen and Athletic Director Emeritus Don Leahy who was the athletic director when UNO started hockey in 1997.
The Mavericks are 20-12-6, their third 20-win season under Blais. They will travel to Boston on Tuesday and will have a practice day and news conference on Wednesday before the semifinal game.
