Personal Bests Mark First Day at Dakota Relays

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Omaha track & field team put up a number of personal bests on the first day of competition at the Howard Wood Dakota Relays on Friday.
Noni Henderson took fifth in the triple jump with a personal best leap of 37-02 ½. In the hammer throw, Megan Adams also had a PR with a toss of 129-07.
In other field events, Taryn Derickson was fourth in the high jump with a mark of 5-04 ¼ while Emily Everitt was sixth with a jump of 5-02 ¼.
In the javelin, Amanda Alexander was fourth with a throw of 116-07. Also in the throwing events, Amanda Conlin took eighth in the shot put with a mark of 41-11 ½.
On the track, the Mavericks had two personal bests in the 200 meters. Terri Armstrong was second with a time of 25.09 while Hannah Fowler was sixth with a time of 25.76.
In the 400 meters, Fowler had another PR, finishing ninth with a time of 58.36.
In the 800 meters, Alyssa Thavenet took third with a time of 2:13.48, a personal best and the second-best time by a Maverick in the event this season. Kayla Sabotin also had a PR, coming in ninth with a time of 2:17.34.
In the 5,000 meters, Kristin Rogers was ninth with a personal best time of 18.22.48.
In the 4 x 100 relay, the team of Nicole Liske, Armstrong, Tschida Johnson and Fowler was fourth in a time of 48.85, a new team season best.
The second day of competition begins on Saturday at 9 a.m. at Howard Wood Field.
