
Mathewson Earns Academic All-League Honors

OMAHA, Neb. – Allie Mathewson represented the Omaha softball team on the Summit League Academic All-League team on Wednesday, based on a vote by the league's sports information directors and faculty athletics representatives.
Mathewson is a repeat selection on the team after carrying a 3.87 GPA with a major in K-12 Physical Education/Secondary Education. She was a three-time first-team all-league pick after leading UNO in most offensive categories. As the Mavericks leadoff hitter, Mathewson had a .314 batting average with 13 home runs, 40 runs scored, 11 stolen bases, and a .598 slugging percentage. Defensively, Mathewson did not commit an error in 55 chances. Her 13 home runs this season was fourth most in the Summit League and gave her 35 for her career which ranks third all-time.
To be eligible for the Summit League Academic All-League team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 3.30 (on a 4.0 scale), completed at least one full academic year at the current institution and participated in 50 percent of her team's competitions (20 percent for pitchers). The softball all-league team is made up of the nine student-athletes receiving the most votes with all ties standing.
