OMAHA, Neb. - The Omaha women's soccer team concludes its preseason schedule with a 6:30 p.m. match against UMKC on Sunday, Aug. 16. The Mavericks will be eligible for Summit League and NCAA postseason competition beginning this season. Live stats and video streaming will be available at OMavs.com.
The Teams
The Mavericks dropped a 3-2 decision at Wyoming on Thursday afternoon. Last season, UNO finished 5-12-2 overall and 3-3-2 in The Summit League in 2014. Omaha was picked to finish fifth in the Preseason Coaches' Poll. Chelsi Rohloff finished the season with 24 points and ten goals to lead the conference. Hannah Wampler added four goals and earned Summit League Defensive Player of the Year honors. Rohloff and Wampler earned All-Summit League First Team honors. Lydia Holtmann was placed on the all-Freshman Team.
UMKC finished last season with a 13-5-3 overall record and an 8-1-1 mark in the Western Athletic Conference. The Kangaroos tied for the conference regular season crown, but fell to Seattle University in the conference tournament finals. Kansas City was picked to finish third in the WAC Preseason Coaches' Pol1. Senior defender Erika Teson was named to the Preseason All-WAC Team.
Series History
Omaha and UMKC have met twice in the regular season both times in Kansas City, Missouri. The series record is tied 1-1 with Omaha winning the last match up, 2-1, on Oct. 7, 2012.
