
Mavericks Notch Personal Bests at Nebraska

LINCOLN, Neb. – Karo Garcia led the Omaha cross country team for the second straight meet, posting a 6K personal best at the Woody Greeno Invitational at Nebraska.
Garcia ran the course at Pioneers Park in a time of 23:20.7, 47 seconds faster than her previous career best at 6K. She finished 15th overall in the field of 60 runners.
Avery Schmidt ran second for the Mavericks and finished 30th with a time of 24:18.8, 63 seconds faster than her previous PR and her highest ever finish.
Rosie Gensichen was third for UNO and just behind Schmidt in 33rd with a time of 24:34.8 in her first 6K. Alyssa Averhoff was three spots back in 36th place with a time of 24:53.6.
Alyssa Thavenet, in her first career 6K, was UNO's final scorer, coming in 38th overall with a time of 25:25.1.
As a team, the Mavericks were sixth among the six Division I teams with a score of 152. Creighton won with a score of 39, just ahead of Northern Colorado with 59 and Nebraska with 70.
Omaha returns to action at the SDSU Classic on Saturday, Oct. 3 in Brookings, S.D.
