Houston Paces UNO at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet

VERMILLION, S.D. – Freshman Lauren Houston raced her way to a second place finish in the 400 meters at the Dakota Realty Alumni Meet on Saturday.
Houston's time of 58.88 seconds was good for a personal best.
In the high jump, sophomore Stephanie Ahrens placed first collegiately and second overall with a 5-06 ½ mark. Ahrens was only topped by former Maverick and current track and field volunteer assistant coach Sami Spenner who was competing as an individual.
Sophomore Kayla Sabotin also picked up a second-place finish, running the 800 meter in a time of 2:23.75.
The Omaha 4x400 relay team finished third with a season best mark of 4:06.71. The team included Daylee Olson, Mackenzie Zach, Alyssa Thavenet and Houston.
In other field events, Noni Henderson finished sixth in the long jump with a season best leap of 17-00 ½.
In the triple jump, Henderson and Taleah Williams finished fifth and seventh respectively. Henderson had a mark of 34-11 ¼, and Williams had a personal best 34-06 ¾.
Representing the throwers, Amanda Conlin finished eighth in the shot put with a throw of 41-9 ¾.
The Mavericks return to action on Jan. 23 competing in the Jim Emmerich Alumni Invitational at South Dakota State.
