Mavericks Continue NCHC Play at Miami

This Week
The Omaha hockey team makes its first road trip in almost a month when it visits Miami for an NCHC series on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 11-12. Friday's game begins at 6:35 p.m. CT, and Saturday's game starts at 6:05 p.m. CT from Steve Cady Arena in Oxford, Ohio.
The Teams
The Mavericks are 4-3-1 this season and 1-1-0-0/0 in the NCHC, good for a tie for fourth. They split a pair of games with Colorado College last weekend, losing 2-1 and wining 6-4. The Mavericks are 2-0-0 away from home this season after winning the Brice Alaska Goal Rush on Oct. 14-15. They are 12-20-5 all-time against Miami including a mark of 5-11-4 in Oxford. Three of those road wins have come in the last three trips.
Miami is 3-4-2 this season and 0-2-0-0/0 in the NCHC, putting it in a tie for sixth. The RedHawks are coming off 6-3 and 5-2 losses at Western Michigan last weekend. The RedHawks are 2-1-2 at home this season.
The Coaches
Dean Blais is in his eighth year as the head coach of the Mavericks, having led UNO to three 20-win campaigns in that time. The 1973 graduate of Minnesota has posted a record of 395-234-59 in his career as a head coach and has guided the Mavericks to a mark of 133-119-26.
Blais is a two-time Spencer Penrose Memorial Award winner as the Division I coach of the year and a four-time winner of the WCHA's Coach of the Year Award. He spent 10 years as head coach at North Dakota where he led UND to national championships in 1997 and 2000. He is joined by associate head coach Mike Gabinet, a former UNO defenseman and a 2004 graduate, and assistant coach Leigh Mendelson, a 2015 Omaha graduate and former volunteer assistant coach for the team (2014-16).
Enrico Blasi is in his 18th season as head coach at Miami. The 1994 graduate of MU is 369-252-62 all time at his alma mater. He is assisted by Brent Brekke and Nick Petraglia.
