Weninger Named NCHC Goaltender of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Omaha sophomore Evan Weninger has been named the NCHC Goaltender of the Week.
It is the second career goaltender of the week award for Weninger and the fourth NCHC weekly award he's earned in total. The other three came during his freshman season.
Weninger earned his second career shutout, and the first since his collegiate debut on Oct. 10, 2015, in a 2-0 win over Northern Michigan last Saturday. Weninger made 31 saves including 19 in the third period to pick up Omaha's first whitewash of the year. In so doing, he lowered his season goals-against average to 2.67 and his save percentage to .903, both fifth-best in the NCHC.
It's the third weekly NCHC award earned by the Mavericks in the last two weeks. Austin Ortega was named Offensive Player of the Week, and Luc Snuggerud was named the Defenseman of the Week on Nov. 14.
The Mavericks return to action on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3 when they visit Wisconsin.
