Lange Announces 2017-18 Signing Class

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha head women's basketball coach Brittany Lange announced her four-member 2017 signing class on Thursday, as Kylee Coulter, Emily Dewey, Claire Killian and Emily Petersen have all signed National Letters of Intent.
"Our staff has done a great job assembling a highly recruited, athletic, skilled, and most importantly high-character recruiting class from across the country and internationally," said head coach Brittany Lange. "This group of ladies is joining our program eager to continue to build something special within our program and University.
"We are adding length, athleticism, scoring and a boost defensively from this group along with perimeter versatility. We are looking forward to welcoming and developing these ladies as future Mavericks!"
Kylee Coulter
G, 5-9, Fayetteville, Ark. (Fayetteville)
Coulter, a 5-9 combo guard from Fayetteville, Ark., plays for a very talented Fayetteville High School team, who has nine players planning to play college basketball. An all-conference selection, Coulter averaged 11 points per game while shooting 50% from the field as well as totaling six assists per game during her Junior season. Additionally, she helped her team to the 2015 Arkansas 7A State Championship. Coulter played AAU for Coach Lee Shannon and the Arkansas Banshees program.
"Kylee is a 'do it all' type of guard and leader that is special on the defensive end," said Lange. "She is used to winning and playing up-tempo and will be a well-rounded threat on both ends of the floor for us. I love her energy and spark she can add to our program and her versatility to play the 1-3. Her experience competing against and with some of the top athletes in the country will help her quick transition to the college game."
Emily Dewey
F, 6-1, Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada (Westwood Collegiate)
Dewey, a 6-1 forward, will play this year for Coach Sara Lundgren at Westwood Collegiate. Before moving to Winnipeg, she led Campbell Collegiate to three consecutive all-city titles. She also played for Team Saskatchewan for Coach Wayne Morrison where she averaged 22.7 points and 14.7 rebounds in the 2016 Canadian Nationals. Dewey was instrumental in the team's 2014 national championship and third-place finishes the past two seasons. She was a first team all-star in 2016 and a second team all-star in 2015.
"We are very excited to welcome Emily to the states and our program," said Lange. "She has great international experience and her potential as an inside and outside player is immense. We were drawn to her athleticism and ability to slash, board and finish around the basket. Emily is only going to keep improving and is incredibly mature, knowledgeable and will be a great representative of our program."
Claire Killian
G, 5-10, Watertown, Minn. (Watertown-Mayer)
Killian, a 5-10 guard from Watertown, Minn., plays for Coach John Rosholt at Watertown-Mayer High School. She is a two-time all-state and a three-time all-conference performer for the Royals. Killian averaged 19.2 points per game and 6.4 rebounds per game in her junior season. Killian played AAU ball for Coach Mike Durbin of the Minnesota Comets program.
"Claire is a well-rounded off guard that can be a dynamic scorer and can take over games when she wants to," said Lange. "She is strong, quick and her vision allows her to excel on the defensive end as well. We look forward to building on her aggression and are excited to see what she will provide to us over her four years."
Emily Petersen
G, 5-10, Omaha, Neb. (Bellevue West)
Petersen, a 5-10 guard from Omaha, will play this season for Coach Rick Mintkin at Bellevue West. She averaged 14.4 points, 2.7 assists and 3.6 steals over two seasons and earned all-state honors during her Freshman and Sophomore years at Concordia High School. Petersen played AAU ball for Coach Jon Lewis of the Mokan Eclipse program.
"Emily is someone that is passionate about the game and representing her home state," said Lange. "She adds length on the perimeter and a special knack for shooting the basketball. Her release is very quick, and her style will fit how we look to score. I'm happy to have an Omaha native like Emily and her work-ethic joining our program."
