Mavericks Begin Spring Season at Grand Canyon

PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Omaha women's golf team is in 14th place after the first round of the Grand Canyon Spring Invitational.
The Mavericks shot a team round of 335 over the first 18 holes at the GCU Championship Golf Course. Portland State leads with a score of 305, one stroke ahead of second-place South Dakota State of the Summit League. Grand Canyon is in third at 308.
Megan Vetrovsky led the Mavericks on the first day with a score of 79 that included an eagle on the par-5 ninth hole. She is in a tie for 26th in the field of 83 golfers.
Makenna Kroeker is second in scoring for the Mavericks and tied for 64th with a round of 84, one stroke ahead of teammate Mandy Boyle who shot 85 to put her in a tie for 69th.
Katie Kesti and Jordan York both carded an 87 over the 6,162-yard layout and are tied for 75th place.
The second round begins on Tuesday at 10 a.m. CT.
