PHOENIX, Ariz. – The Omaha women's golf team earned a 13th-place finish in its first event of the spring season, the GCU Women's Spring Invitational on Wednesday.
The Mavericks fired a third-round team score of 327, their lowest of the tournament, to finish at 991. North Dakota State won the event with a total of 918, three strokes ahead of Portland State. South Dakota State took third at 922.
Katie Kesti was Omaha's top scorer in round three and for the tournament. She shot 77 on Wednesday to finish the 54-hole event at 238, good for a tie for 35th in the field of 83 golfers.
Megan Vetrovsky shot 86 in round three to finish at 249, second for the Mavericks and in a tie for 67th overall. Jordan York carded an 83 in the final round, her lowest round of the tournament, to finish at 255, good for 78th place.
Makenna Kroeker had UNO's second-best round of the day, 81, to finish at 256, putting her 79th. Mandy Boyle wrapped up the scoring for the Mavericks with a total of 257 that included a final round score of 86.
The Mavericks return to action on March 20-21 at the Morehead State Spring Citrus Challenge in Sorrento, Fla.
