Summit League Men's Basketball Tourney Field Set

OMAHA, Neb. -- The field has been set for next weekend's 2016 Summit League Men's Basketball Championship, the league office announced Saturday night. No. 3-seeded Omaha is one of eight teams set to compete at the tournament, March 5-8 at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The tournament champion advances to the NCAA Tournament as the league's automatic bid.
The Mavericks (18-12, 10-6 Summit League) will make their Summit League Tournament debut when they face No. 6 seed Denver (15-14, 7-9) on Sunday, March 6 at 8:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live by Midco Sports Network and ESPN3.
Fort Wayne (23-8, 12-4) earned its first Summit League regular-season title as regular-season co-champions. The Mastodons meet No. 8 seed South Dakota (14-17, 5-11) on Saturday, March 5 at 6 p.m. CT (MidcoSN/ESPN3).
The Summit's other regular-season co-champion, South Dakota State, is seeded second and opens play in Saturday's nightcap. The Jackrabbits (23-7, 12-4) match up against No. 7 Oral Roberts (14-16, 6-10) at 8:30 p.m. CT (MidcoSN/ESPN3).
Sunday's quarterfinals session begins with No. 4 seed IUPUI (13-18,9-7) against No. 5 seed and defending tournament champion North Dakota State (18-12, 8-8) at 6 p.m. (MidcoSN/ESPN3). Omaha and Denver's tilt at 8:30 p.m. closes out the quarterfinal round.
Semifinals on Monday, March 7 begin with the winner of the No. 1 vs No. 8 game against the winner of the No. 4 vs. No. 5 game at 6 p.m., followed by the winners of the No. 2 vs. No. 7 and No. 3 vs. No. 6 games at 8:30 p.m. Both semifinals will air on MidcoSN and ESPN3.
The championship game is set for Tuesday, March 8 at 8 p.m. and will be televised live on ESPN2 and WatchESPN.com.
