Ahrens Soars Back To Top of the Summit League

LINCOLN, Neb. - Stephanie Ahrens posted the Summit League's best high jump mark of the season as the Omaha track & field team set new personal bests on the final day of the Frank Sevigne Invite.
Ahrens finished second collegiately and fourth overall in the high jump. Ahrens jump of 5-9 ¾ was a season best, and it propelled her back to the top of the Summit League in the high jump.
Junior Taryn Derickson also notched a season best in the high jump with a leap of 5-4 ¾.
The theme of setting personal marks continued in the running events. Sophomore Kayla Sabotin ran the mile in 5:10.91. Her time set a personal best and bested her previous mark by five seconds.
Sophomore Alyssa Averhoff finished seventh in the 3,000 meter. Her time of 10:20.24 set a new personal best, surpassing her previous best mark by nine seconds.
Freshman Lauren Houston finished eighth in the 800 meters with a time of 2:14.34. Junior Alyssa Thavenet finished with a time of 2:17.39 in the 800 and her time was good enough for a season best.
Omaha travels to Brookings, S.D. next weekend for the SDSU Indoor Classic on Feb. 12 and 13.
