Shaw Selected Third-Team Academic All-American

OMAHA, Neb. – Mikaela Shaw was named to the 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-America Third Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
The junior has started all 28 games for the Mavericks and leads the Summit League in scoring averaging 18.3 points per game. She has scored in double figures every game this year and in 29 consecutive games dating back to the 2014-15 season. Shaw has had 11 double-doubles this season including a 22-point 11-rebound performance at Denver on Feb. 27.
Shaw ranks 12th all-time in career scoring at UNO with 1,232 points and ranks ninth all-time in rebounding (655). She became the 18th player in program history to surpass the 1,000 career point and 500 career rebound milestone.
An outstanding student, she carries a 3.81 grade-point average with a major in biology and is a member of the UNO Dean's List. Shaw has been an Academic All-District first team honoree, two-time Summit League Academic Honor Roll member and UNO's Marian Ivers Female Athlete of the Year in 2015.
She is the fifth Academic All-American in Omaha women's basketball history, the second in the Division I era. Paige Frauendorfer was honored in 2013. Other honorees include Laura Anderson (1988), Amy Loth (1997) and Stacie Kaiser (1997).
Omaha opens postseason play on Sunday, March 6 at the Summit League Championships in Sioux Falls, S.D. The sixth-seeded Mavericks take on third-seeded IUPUI at 2:30 p.m. from the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center. The game will be televised on Midco and ESPN3.
