Mavericks Make Coaching Changes

OMAHA, Neb. – Omaha hockey head coach Dean Blais announced today that assistant coaches Troy Jutting and Alex Todd will not return to their positions with the team.
“Given the difficult end to our season, we took a hard look at our team and how we support the players as a staff,” said Blais. “In the end, I decided that this was one area where we needed to improve to stay competitive in the NCHC.
“I want to thank Troy and Alex for their work on behalf of Maverick hockey. We'll immediately begin to look for the best candidates to fill the assistant coach positions.”
Jutting was an assistant for the Mavericks for four years following 12 years as the head coach at Minnesota State. Todd joined the staff prior to the 2013-14 season after eight years as the head coach at Castleton (Vt.) State.
The Mavericks finished the 2015-16 season with a record of 18-17-1 overall and 8-15-1-0/0 in the NCHC, putting them in sixth place. They were eliminated by Denver in the first round of the conference playoffs.
